Anaesthetic Awareness Claims

Medical Negligence Claims: Anaesthetic Awareness Claims

In very rare circumstances a patient may develop awareness during surgery. This is usually only mild, for example, hearing distant voices. However, sometimes a patient may be able to feel the incisions being made. Whilst all this is happening the patient is paralysed and cannot indicate their awareness.

This is, naturally, a terrible experience to go through leaving the victim of anaesthetic awareness psychologically affected.

Many victims of anaesthetic awareness develop post traumatic stress disorder involving flashbacks and/or nightmares.

Our Medical Lawyers have many years of experience of dealing with Medical Negligence and Anaesthetic Awareness Claims.

It is not entirely understood how an anaesthetic works and why some people become aware during surgery, with some people having a natural resistance to the anaesthetic. However, many Anaesthetic Awareness Claims involve:

Inadequate dosage of anaesthetic Faulty equipment Poor pre-anaesthetic history Steps should always be taken to avoid awareness during surgery.

Our Medical Lawyers are able to conduct your claim on a No Win No Fee basis, or, in qualifying cases, with the benefit of Public Funding (formerly Legal Aid).
